Questions you might have
We're here to help with any questions you may have. Don't see your answer below? Feel free to reach out.
Material
Is the pyjama made from 100% linen, not a blend?
Our products are made from 100% organic linen, no blends, just pure quality. We craft each piece using premium European flax, carefully selected for its exceptional softness and durability.
Does linen feel stiff or rough against the skin?
Linen is naturally one of the strongest natural fibers, known for its exceptional durability. Many linen fabrics undergo chemical or stone washing to soften the material, but we take a gentler approach. Our linen is treated with an enzyme wash—a natural, biological process that softens the fabric while preserving its integrity. With each wear, your linen becomes even softer and more comfortable, naturally molding to your body over time.
What type of wash do you use?
Our linen undergoes an enzyme wash, a natural, biological process that gently softens the fabric. Since linen is naturally a strong, structured fiber, this innovative treatment helps create a softer hand feel while remaining environmentally conscious. This progressive method is far more sustainable than traditional chemical treatments, using no harsh chemicals in the softening process.
Does this linen crease easily?
Yes, linen naturally wrinkles, but that's part of its charm. Our medium-weight linen resists excessive creasing while maintaining that relaxed look that makes linen so special.
Is the linen organic?
Yes, we use 100% organic linen. Finding the right fabric took time and dedication, but we're proud to have sourced material that meets our high standards for quality and sustainability.
Does the linen have any stretch?
No, linen has very little stretch, which is why we've designed our pieces with relaxed, roomy fits that allow for comfortable movement. Our sleep bags also feature a slightly flared bottom to ensure plenty of room for your little one to move freely. Over time, the linen naturally softens and molds to the body for a personalized, comfortable fit.
Is the sleepwear /sleeping bag hypoallergenic?
Yes, linen is naturally hypoallergenic and a good choice for people with sensitive skin, allergies, or eczema. It's skin-friendly.
Product & Fit
Are the sizes / pyjamas unisex?
Our sleepwear and sleep bags are unisex designed. Small buttons at the sleeves and legs (and snaps on sleep bags) allow for adjustable sizing and fit. Check our size guide for the perfect fit.
We've extensively tested our designs to ensure optimal comfort, focusing on freedom of movement and eliminating pressure points, because we believe sleep should be as soft and gentle as possible. Our pajamas have a relaxed, generous fit with intentionally longer sleeves. For men, the sleeve length typically fits perfectly, while women often find them slightly longer—which many love for that cozy, enveloped feeling during sleep. Of course, rolling up the sleeves is always an option for a more personalized fit.
Where are your pyjamas produced?
In The Netherlands. Our pajamas are produced at Atelier Jungles in The Hague, local production that allows us to visit regularly. This atelier helps people re-enter the workforce by teaching sewing skills while supporting sustainable startups. Their focus on sustainability and social impact perfectly reflects our brand values. Learn more in our interview with founder Giselle.
Does the pyjama run large for women?
It depends on your preference. Our sleepwear have a relaxed, slightly oversized fit rather than slim-fit styling. While sleeves tend to run longer on women, many love this for the extra comfort and coziness it provides. Check our size guide to find your ideal fit.
Can I give the sleeping bag as a maternity gift?
Yes, our sleep bag makes a beautiful baby gift. It's a summer-weight design, and since most babies start using sleep bags around 6 months (rather than as newborns), ours begin at that age. The adjustable snaps at the bottom create two sizes in one for extended wear, a thoughtful gift that grows with baby. Just check the sizes in combination with the season to choose the right starting size.
What does ‘deadstock’ buttons mean?
We use deadstock buttons, unused buttons from larger fashion brands that no longer need them. They're essentially new buttons we can source sustainably, reducing waste and making our products more eco-friendly.
Is the pyjama/sleeping bag suitable for all seasons?
Yes, our sleepwear work year-round. Linen naturally regulates temperature, cooling in summer, warming in winter. We offer long-sleeve tops and pants, plus shorts for hot summer nights.
Our sleep bags can be used all year, though we recommend adding a warm onesie underneath in winter. They're designed primarily for summer with a 0.5 TOG rating (Thermal Overall Grade), as linen breathes exceptionally well and keeps baby comfortable in warmer weather.
Can I purchase the pyjama as a hospital pyjama?
Yes, our pajamas are perfect for recovery or hospital stays. Linen's temperature-regulating properties support healing and restful sleep, and they're made without synthetic materials like polyester or viscose.
A Place Called Calm was founded from this exact need, co-founder Anouk couldn't find comfortable sleepwear during her cancer recovery. Linen felt best during chemotherapy, inspiring her to create these pieces.
The button-front blouse opens fully for easy access during medical care.
Is the product vegan?
Yes, our sleepwear is completely vegan. Linen is made from the flax plant, making it a natural, plant-based fiber.
Why does the waistband look wide?
We don't use elastic (which is almost always plastic-based). Instead, we use only a organic cotton drawstring, keeping both your skin and our products completely plastic-free and natural.

Review:
"I've lived with sensitive skin and eczema my entire life. It's been a constant journey of searching and learning. Each day brings new clarity about what triggers flare-ups and what helps keep my skin calm.
Honestly, I never imagined a pair of pajamas could make such a difference. I always slept in 100% cotton, convinced it was the best option available. That changed the first night I wore these linen pajamas from APCC.
That's when I realized just how much nightwear can impact your skin. In these pajamas, I wake up less often from itching, and my skin feels calmer—not just at night, but throughout the day too. It makes complete sense when you think about it: we spend most of our time sleeping, wearing our pajamas!
This is one of those things where I think: how did I ever manage without it? For anyone with sensitive or eczema-prone skin: don't underestimate your pajamas. I truly wish I'd discovered these sooner." - Linda
Does linen help with night sweats or hot flushes?
Linen is ideal for menopause and hot flashes. It naturally regulates temperature and absorbs up to 20% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp. The result? No overheating, no irritation, just comfortable, better sleep.
Is the sleeping bag safe for babies who move a lot?
Yes, our sleep bag is perfect for active babies. The design gently flares at the bottom, offering security and comfort while giving little legs plenty of room to move freely during sleep.

Brand & Vision
What does the name ‘A Place Called Calm’ mean?
It represents a place where you find peace, a dreamlike sanctuary where you can disconnect from the rush, blue screens, and endless to-do lists. A place where you walk barefoot through soft grass, breathe in the scent of blooming flowers, hear the gentle sound of a stream in the background, and completely unwind.
Which organisations do you donate to?
Read more about our impact and the charities we support here. With every purchase, we donate to cancer research and nature restoration initiatives—two causes deeply meaningful to our founders.
How often do you release a new collection?
We introduce new pieces when our current collection is nearly sold out or when customers request improvements like better fits or different colors. We don't chase trends or seasons, just timeless, lasting quality. Have ideas? Let us know at hello@aplacecalledcalm.com.
Will you be introducing more colours?
Yes, we expect so. Subscribe to our newsletter (in the footer) to be the first to know when items are back in stock.
Will you also be launching pyjamas for children aged 4 and up?
We're still considering this carefully. We stand for creating pajamas that last a lifetime, but since children grow so quickly, it would mean replacing pieces frequently, which feels at odds with the quality and investment our products represent. That said, it's something we're actively exploring, as we'd love to help children with sensitive skin (eczema) experience the comfort of linen sleepwear.
